2019 Federal Government Shutdown

The federal government shutdown ended Feb. 15 and all programs have returned to normal. If you're approved for March SNAP benefits, you might get your benefits early instead of on your normal day.

March SNAP benefits will be loaded on your Lone Star Card between March 1 and March 7 based on the last digit of your EDG number. Benefits are usually issued between the first and 15th of the month. You can find the EDG numbers and dates on the chart below.

If your SNAP EDG number ends in: You will get March benefits on:
0 or 5 March 1
1 or 6 March 3
2 or 7 March 5
3 or 8 March 6
4 or 9 March 7

For example, if your EDG number is 12345678, SNAP benefits will be on your Lone Star Card on March 6 because the last number is 8.

You will start getting benefits on your normal day again in April.

How do I find my EDG number?

Log into your account at or the Your Texas Benefits mobile app and click on your case. You can also call 2-1-1 and choose option 2.

How can I find out when benefits will be loaded onto my Lone Star Card?

  • Log into your account on Click Manage and pick the case you want to find out about, and then click Details. Click Lone Star Card Info to see your next deposit date.
  • Call 2-1-1, and after you pick a language, pick option 2.

Will the money on my Lone Star Card expire?

SNAP benefits are good for one year and don't need to be used immediately. Any information about benefits expiring in the coming weeks because of the government shutdown is not correct.
