• In FY 2015, ECI provided comprehensive services to 50,634 children.
  • In FY 2015, local programs received approximately 73,488 referrals.
  • In FY 2015, approximately 99.5 percent of the services were provided in the home or other community-based settings such as childcare, preschool, etc.
  • In 2015, of the children enrolled in ECI, 37 percent were 0-1 year olds; 34 percent were 1-2 year olds; and 30 percent were 2-3 year olds.

ECI Provider Network

  • ECI currently contracts with 49 local programs statewide.
  • Every Texas county is served by local programs in the ECI Provider Network. Each program offers the same array of services.
  • During FY 2015, the following agency types made up the ECI Provider Network:
    • 26 Community/State Mental Health and Mental Retardation Centers
    • 5 Regional Education Service Centers
    • 2 Local Independent School Districts
    • 15 Private Nonprofit Local Organizations
    • 2 Other
  • ECI Program Personnel: In 2015, the number of budgeted full-time equivalent employees and contractual staff was 2471 and included:
    • Early intervention specialists
    • Physical therapists
    • Occupational therapists
    • Speech and language pathologists
    • Nurses
    • Social workers and counselors
    • Others, such as psychologists and dietitians
  • Children were referred to ECI by:
    • Medical and health services, 51 percent
    • Parents, family, friends, 25 percent
    • Social services, 14 percent
    • Educational, 2 percent
    • Other, 8 percent
