Home and Community-based Services (HCS) and Texas Home Living (TxHmL) providers are required to report critical incidents and any death of an HCS or TxHmL participant to the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS). The following information letters discuss these requirements:

Information Letter Regarding Reporting Deaths

Providers are required to report the death of an individual receiving HCS or TxHmL services to DADS by the end of the next business day following the death or the program provider’s learning of the death on Form 8493, Notification to DADS Regarding a Death in HCS, TxHmL and DBMD Programs.
