An estimated 1 in 4 older Texans is at risk of abuse [Oxford Journals]. You have the power to make a change. We can improve the quality of care and the quality of life for nursing facility residents.

The Health and Human Services Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation (ANE) Training Academy is a 2-day training that provides nursing home staff:

  • Tools to identify, screen and prevent ANE
  • Strategies to create an environment that is resistant to ANE
  • Tips to decrease systematic desensitization of ANE against residents
  • An overview of federal and state ANE regulations and reporting requirements

Who Should Attend

  • Staff providing direct care to nursing facility residents
  • Open to all nursing facilities staff

Goal of This Training Academy

The ANE Academy is designed to improve the quality of life and quality of care for Texas nursing home residents. This training is crucial to ensuring that the quality of care provided to the most vulnerable Texas residents is at the highest possible level.

Why You Should Attend

You may be quite surprised to find out what qualifies as abuse, neglect and exploitation, and you'll want to know to avoid any issues. You'll find out what ANE is and be provided with real-world examples. You'll discover what you can control and cannot control and learn what factors lead to ANE, as well as some alternate interventions, how to use the power you have in your position, how to report ANE and safe guards to use when reporting. This results not only in providing better care and quality of life for your residents, but once you learn and apply these tools, you will likely experience more pleasant and rewarding engagement with residents.
