What is the Service Responsibility Option?

The Service Responsibility Option is an additional option of consumer direction. SRO lets consumers select, train and manage most of the day-to-day activities of their attendants, such as when they work and how they perform their duties. The provider agency of the participant's choosing remains the employer of record and handles all of the personnel and business details. Contracting to Provide the Service Responsibility Option

An amendment to an existing PHC contract is required to provide SRO. Before requesting a contract amendment:

Once your request is received, CSC will verify you completed the required orientation and that you have a certified Support Advisor. CSC will then send you a simple amendment to review, sign and return. The appropriate service codes for SRO will be added to your contract and HHS will send you a copy of the fully executed amendment. At that time CSC will notify HHS Regional staff so that your agency can be added to the list of agencies authorized to provide SRO.
