Texas law allows for individuals on the Sex Offender Registry who meet certain conditions to petition to have their names removed from the list. This is known as “Deregistration”. It is important to note that not all individuals are eligible for deregistration so careful reading of the rules, requirements, and forms is critical.
There is a $50 fee for submitting the request to be removed from the registry. This fee pays for the administrative expenses incurred by the state during this process.
