Child Care Regulation has two important updates to the COVID-19 pandemic, processes. They are:

  1. The Closed Operation Status Update Survey will close on Dec. 18, 2020. Some providers have continued to use this survey to update CCR on the operation’s operating status, while others are reporting this information to the inspector. To improve consistent reporting methods across the state, moving forward, report any changes in your operation’s operating status to your inspector.
  2. If you do not plan to re-open by Jan.15, 2021, contact your inspector to discuss. Your plans may include permanent closure or the voluntary suspension of your permit.

40 Texas Administrative Code (TAC) §745.8519 outlines the circumstances under which an operation may voluntarily suspend its permit and 40 TAC §745.8521 allows a child day care operation to voluntarily suspend its permit for a maximum of 90 days.

CCR understands the uncertainty and obstacles that many operations continue to face related to COVID-19 and has been flexible as operations take time to determine their best course of action. 

Nine months into the COVID-19 pandemic, CCR continues to evaluate processes put in place due to the pandemic and the best course of action moving forward. You may contact your CCR inspector for any information that we can provide to assist you in making these important decisions.
