Two Montessori courses, “Montessori Inspired Lifestyle®: Montessori Based Dementia Programming®” and “Montessori Principles for Leadership and Staff Engagement”, are coming to HHSC. These courses are provided by Dr. Cameron Camp and his team (PDF). Dr. Camp is founder of Center for Applied Research in Dementia and the Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional certification provided by the International Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners.

This course is for direct care professionals, certified nursing assistants, attendants, social workers, nurses, administrators and activity professionals.

HHSC and CHIP will provide 6.0 continuing education credits to licensed social workers, licensed marriage and family therapists, certified nurse aides, long-term care ombudsmen, assisted living facility managers, license psychology professionals, licensed professional counselors, occupational therapists and assistants, qualified intellectual and developmental disability professionals, day activity and health services managers, and home health and hospice managers.

CEU Network approve and provide nurse CEs for a fee paid to CEU Network. The information will be provided in class. Other credentialing bodies are still pending.

Dr. Camp's course provides person-centered practices that let each person function at their optimum level. The Montessori approach supports all adults who have more capability than are often given credit.

This course is required for people interested in the CMDCP certification with ICCDP. The course is also open to others who would like to learn from Dr. Camp. CMDCP application information will be provided in class. For those interested in CMDCP certification, the ICCDP is offering all attendees a large application discount. The fee is reduced to $35 from $270. You must attend the entire course to receive a certificate of attendance.
