AUSTIN – The Texas Health and Human Services Commission’s Kerrville State Hospital will host its second annual Shatter the Stigma 5K Run/Walk on May 18 to raise awareness about mental illness and help eliminate the stigma associated with it.
Funds raised by the event will be used to purchase personal items for hospital patients, birthday and holiday gifts for patients and supplies for recreational programs.
WHAT: A 5K run/walk to raise awareness about mental illness. Medals will be awarded to the top three female and male finishers in all age groups.
WHEN: Saturday, May 18, 2019
- 7 a.m. — Race Day Registration
- 8:30 a.m. — Race Start
- 9:30 a.m. — Awards Ceremony
WHERE: Louise Hays Park, 202 Thompson Drive, Kerrville
The registration fee on race day will be $35. All proceeds will go to the Volunteer Services Council of Kerrville State Hospital to support programs and services that benefit patients’ quality of life and well-being.
