Gov. Greg Abbott has reappointed Dr. Courtney N. Phillips as executive commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission for a term set to expire Feb. 1, 2021.

Phillips is the first woman to be appointed as HHSC executive commissioner in Texas. She’s served in the role since October and previously served as the chief executive officer of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. 

The appointment is subject to Texas Senate confirmation.
