Applies to: Child-Placing Agencies
The Health and Human Services Commission has approved an adopted rule packet related to converting or closing foster group homes in Chapter 749, Minimum Standards for Child-Placing Agencies.
These rule changes go into effect October 19, 2018.
Background and Summary of Changes
The rule changes implement legislation from 2017 and:
- Update the general rule on how to verify a foster family home;
- Reiterate that a child-placing agency may not verify a foster group home after August 21, 2017;
- Clarify that a foster group home that was verified before September 1, 2017 may continue to operate, but requires a child-placing agency to either convert (re-verify) the foster group home to a foster family home or close the foster group home by August 31, 2019; and
- Outlines the steps a child-placing agency must take in order to convert a foster group home to a foster family home.
