Register Now for the Texas OASIS Home and Community Based Services Dementia Training Academy with Dr. Susan Wehry.

Registration is now open for the Texas OASIS HCBS Dementia Training Academy. During this free two-day training participants will receive in-depth information on dementia care and the Texas OASIS HCBS Training Academy manual. All participants will receive a flash drive with the training materials; participating licensed/contracted organizations will also receive the DVD “Bathing Without a Battle.” After completing the Texas OASIS HCBS Dementia Training, participants will be better prepared to care for people with dementia and meet their unique needs, allowing them to remain in the community.

The program comprises of 10 conferences that focus on dementia basics, including alternatives to antipsychotic medications for dementia-related behavior and the importance of providing person-centered care. The training is available to staff from a variety of community-based programs, including ALFs, DAHS, PACE and others who provide care in the home for a licensed entity. Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to teach the curriculum to other staff.
