HHSC stakeholders have until Nov. 6, 2017 to provide written comments on proposed new rules. As required by House Bill 284 of the 85th Legislature, Regular Session, 2017, HHSC proposes new sections to the Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 19 for Nursing Facilities, Chapter 90 for Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with an Intellectual Disability or Related Conditions, and Chapter 92 for Assisted Living Facilities. The proposed new sections will:
- require facilities to allow a resident to use a wheelchair self-release seat belt while the resident is in the resident's wheelchair if certain conditions are met; and
- explain when a facility is not required to allow a resident to use a wheelchair self-release seat belt while the resident is in the resident's wheelchair.
The rules were published in the Oct. 6, 2017, issue of the Texas Register. To find out where and how to submit comments on the rules, please refer to the section titled “Public Comment” in the Texas Register.
